Razza works a wood-burning oven on Grove Street in downtown Jersey City, and builds outward from it: small plates, artisanal pizzas both traditional and otherwise, and a drinks list that moves with the season.
Its own description is unusually restrained for a pizzeria with this much reputation — “small plates, traditional and inspired artisanal pizzas” — and the restraint is the tell. This is a room that expects the oven to make the argument.
Grove Street puts it a short walk from the PATH, which means it is one of the easier serious pizza destinations to reach from Manhattan without a car.
